2.1: Linking to a MLS Listing

As a listing agent, dotloop allows you to search for property information via RETS feed. If the property is listed in your MLS, dotloop will fill out all available information straight to your View Details section for use in documents once linked.

There are three different places you can search for a listing to link to: loop creation window, view details page and the autofill window. If you have already created your listing loop then you can still link to the listing through the view details page or autofill window. Note: if you do not see an MLS listing for the property, this could be for one of a few reasons: dotloop doesn't have an agreement with the MLS, the brokerage that owns the listing data doesn’t have their listings opted into our feed, the listing isn’t an active residential listing, or if it’s newly listed it can take a day or two for the MLS to push it to the dotloop system. You may still continue to manually type in the property information.

Loop Creation Window

Your first opportunity to link to a listing happens when you’re creating your loop.

Step 1: Click on the Add Loop button

On your loops home page click on the Add Loop button.

Step 2: Search for the listing that you need to link to

When naming your loop, suggestions will be listed below. You can search for listings to link to by property address or MLS number. Once you’ve typed in the property address or MLS number, look for a listing that shows the name of the MLS to the right of the address. If the listing shows the name of the MLS that means that all of the valuable information will autofill into your view details page of the loop.

Step 3: Click on the “MLS” sourced listing the you need to link to

Once you have found the listing you wish to link to, click on it.

Step 4: Enter your MLS ID

Depending on what your MLS requires, you may be asked to enter your MLS ID. If you are not prompted to enter your MLS ID then you can skip this step.

Step 5: Click the Import Data button

Now you will need to click the Import Data button. This will pull all of the information from the MLS into your new loop.

Step 6: Finish setting up your loop and click the View Loop button

Step 7: Open the “View Details” page of your loop

Within your new loop, click on “View Details” beneath the loop name. After linking to a listing and creating your loop, your View Details page will be pre-filled with the property information to help you autofill your interactive documents.

If you have already created the listing loop then you can still link to the listing through the view details page.

Step 1: Open the loop that you need to link to a listing

This will be the loop that you need to link to a listing.

Step 2: Click on “View Details”

Within a loop, click on “View Details” beneath the loop name.

Step 3: Scroll down until you see the “Property Address” section

The Property Address section is located under the People section.

Step 4: Search by property address or MLS number

Next to the magnifying glass type in the property address or MLS number to find the listing you would like to link to. Once you’ve typed in the property address or MLS number look for a listing that shows the name of the MLS below the address. If the listing shows the name of the MLS that means that all of the valuable information will autofill into your view details page of the loop.

Step 5: Click on the listing that you need to link to

Once you have found the listing you wish to link to, click on it.

Step 6: Enter your MLS ID

Depending on what your MLS requires you may be asked to enter your MLS ID. If you are not prompted to enter your MLS ID then you can skip this step.

Step 7: Click the Import Data button

Now you will need to click the Import Data button. This will pull all of the information from the MLS into your View Details page. Saving you time when it comes to autofilling your interactive documents.

Autofill Window

If you have already created the offer loop then you can still link to the listing through the autofill window.

Step 1: Open the loop that you need to link to a listing

This will be your offer loop that you need to link to a listing.

Step 2: Open one or more interactive documents

If this is your first time opening the interactive document then the Autofill window will automatically pop up. If not, then click “Autofill” at the top of your screen.

Step 3: Scroll down to the “Property Address” section

Property Address is the second section, underneath Roles.

Step 4: Search by property address or MLS number

Next to the magnifying glass type in the property address or MLS number to find the listing you would like to link to. Once you’ve typed in the property address or MLS number look for a listing that shows the name of the MLS below the address. If the listing shows the name of the MLS that means that all of the valuable information will autofill into your view details page of the loop.

Step 5: Select the listing

Once you have found the listing you wish to link to, click on it.

Step 6: Enter your MLS ID

Depending on what your MLS requires you may be asked to enter your MLS ID. If you are not prompted to enter your MLS ID then you can skip this step.

Step 7: Click the Import Data button

Now you will need to click the Import Data button. This will pull all of the information from the MLS into your Autofill window. Saving you time when it comes to autofilling your interactive documents.

Note: Once you select a listing to link your loop with, you cannot undo this selection. Please make sure you are selecting the proper listing before continuing. Also, if you would like to repurpose a loop for another listing or address we suggest you archive the current loop and create a new loop.
