In this article we will go over the steps necessary to sign a document on the Android mobile app. Whether you are a client signing a document for your real estate agent, or an agent trying to sign your own documents, dotloop can accomplish any signing task you may need!
Signing a document sent to you
Signing documents shared with you on the Android mobile app is a quick and easy process. If you have the app installed, and notifications enabled, you will receive a notification to sign the document or documents shared to you.
Selecting the notification on your device will open up the mobile app, and automatically open the document(s) shared with you. You will see fields marked for you to sign, highlighted in red, as shown below. Tap on the field you would like to sign.
We will now be taken to the Adopt your signature page. Here you will see your name and initials, as well as a preview for each. Here you can make any necessary changes to your signature or initials, if necessary. When ready, tap the checkmark icon at the top.
You will now be taken back to your document, where you will see your signed field. Repeat these steps for each field you need to sign. Tap the save button at the top when finished.
Now your document is signed and successfully shared back!
If you are preparing a document in your account, and wish to sign it, you are able to do so directly from within the document while in the mobile app! Let's start by opening the document you wish to sign, and navigate to the signature or initial box requiring your signature or initials. Once you have found the field, tap the pencil to make changes.
Next, tap on the field you wish to sign.
Now, tap on the assign icon.
On the next screen we will have a few options on assignment for this field. Since we want to sign this ourselves we will choose the option Assign to person.
On the Assign to person window, choose your name from the list. This will assign the field to you.
We will now be taken back to the document. Here we will see the field has turned red and will display for you to tap here. Tap on the field.
The app will now take us to the Adopt your signature page. Here we can see our name, as well as our initials. You have the option to edit these on this screen. Once ready, tap the checkmark icon.
We will now notice that the selected field has been signed. Tap the back arrow at the top to deselect the field.
We will tap the back arrow once more to leave the edit mode.
Lastly, we will want to save the document by tapping the save icon at the top.
Your document has now been successfully signed and saved!
If you are currently with the individual you wish to have sign a document, dotloop will allow you to host the signing in person, directly from your account. To do this, you must have the person in the loop, with an email address, and the document prepared for signing, and saved. Open the document you wish to have them sign and tap the 3 circles in the upper right corner.
Next, choose Host in person Signing.
A box will appear instructing you to select a signer. Simply tap the correct person's name to continue.
You will now be instructed to hand your device over to the person who will be signing. Instruct the person to tap the blue button labeled BEGIN SIGNING.
The document will now be presented in your mobile browser. The person can then tap the SIGN icon at the top right of the page to zoom into the signature area.
The signature field will blink and instruct the person to click on the signature box.
Upon tapping where instructed, the person will be taken to the Adopt signature screen. Here, the person may edit the spelling of their name by tapping their name under CONFIRM YOUR NAME. They may also choose SWITCH TO DRAW at the bottom of the screen to draw their signature by hand. Once the person is satisfied with the signature, they must tap ADOPT & SIGN in the top right corner.
Next, simply tap the FINISH button, which will be blinking in the top right corner.
At this point, the person may give the device back to you. You will see a screen that gives you the option to share the document. Fill out the relevant information to share, or tap the X at the top left corner to exit.
Next, the person signing has the option to sign in or set up an account in order to save the document for themselves.
Once you navigate back to the app from your mobile browser, you will see a finished page. Click DONE to return to your signed document.
