So, you want to change your email address, but when you enter the new email address you want to change it to, you get this:
No way! That email can't be in use, I've never used it on dotloop before!
Actually, sometimes you'll have an email registered with dotloop and you may not even realize it! Don't worry, here's what you do about this:
First, something needs to be done about this email you want to use, but can't. You need to first gain access to the account under the email address you want to use, and then use a third email address to free up the desired email. Lastly, you need to change your email address on the first account to the address you want to use. Follow the steps in each of these sections:
- Gain access to to the account under the email address you want to use
- Free up the desired email
- Change the email address on the original account
If you already know the password for the account with this email skip to these steps.
Note: The Captcha codes are Case Sensitive, but if you entered it incorrectly, the system will generate a new code for you to try again.
Note: The password requirements for dotloop are to have at least 6 characters, with at least one number and one letter.
Now, you need to change the email address for this account in order to free up the email address you want to use, in order to put it on the original account with all of your loops! Go back through the steps to change the email on this account. You will need a third email address.
Why do you need a third email address?
Good question. In dotloop, your account cannot be deleted, so you can't just delete the account to free up this email address. Instead, you have to change this email address to another address that is not in use by another dotloop account.
Log back into your original account. You can now repeat the process to change the email address on this account to the email address you want to use.
Remember, you have to log into your inbox and verify the email address change before it will apply to your account!
