So, you want to change your email address, but when you enter the new email address you want to change it to, you get this:
No way! That email can't be in use, I've never used it on dotloop before!
Actually, sometimes you'll have an email registered with dotloop and you may not even realize it! Don't worry, here's what you do about this:
First, we need to do something about this email you want to use, but can't. You'll want to sign out of the account your currently in.
Now, you'll be taken to the dotloop login page. We need to gain access to the account under the email address you want to use. If you already know the password for this account, great! Go ahead and log in, then skip ahead to these steps!
Assuming that you don't know the password to the account registered with the email address you want to use, you will need to click the "Forgot your password?" link:
Here, you will be prompted to enter the email address you want to use. You'll be asked to 'Enter the code above'. I know it can be kind of difficult to read, but you should be able to get in a one or two tries! Be sure to click the large blue 'Request' button.
After clicking the "Request" button, you will see the following message: A change password request has been sent via email..
Check the inbox for that email address. You'll have recieved an email in your inbox from dotloop with a subject that reads: Password Reset Request.
Open this email, and click the "Reset Password" button in the body of the email.
You will be taken to a page where you'll need to create a password. Put the password in twice. Remember, you are creating the password here. Click "Save".
You will be taken back to the dotloop sign in page. Sign in with the email address you want to use. Use the password you just created to sign into this account.
Now, we have to change the email address for this account, because we have to free it up so you can put it on your account with all of your loops! Go back through the steps to change the email on this account. You will need a third email address.
Why do you need a third email address? Good question.
In dotloop, your account cannot be deleted, so you can't just delete the account to free up this email address. Instead, you have to change this email address to another address that is not in use by another dotloop account.
Once you have changed the email address on this account, you will need to log into the inbox of your third email address and verify the email address change. Okay, now you've freed up the email address you want to use!
Now, lets log back into your original account. You can now change the email address on this account to the email address you want to use.
Remember, you have to log into your inbox and verify the email address change before it will apply to your account!
