People and contacts can be edited with ease in the mobile app! You can modify contacts within a loop, or within the people section of your account, however, it should be noted that modifying a person in one section does not modify them in the other. For example, if I edited a client's email address in the loop, that would not update the same client within my contacts.
To begin managing people in your loop, first tap on the loop you are working in.
While in the loop, you will see a section labeled PEOPLE near the top of your screen. Tap on PEOPLE, or you may simply swipe right.
Next, tap on a contact's name to be taken to that person's information screen.
Here, we have three options to consider when managing our contact: edit, add to team, and email. Let's go over these options.
- EDIT - This option will allow you to edit the person within the loop. You will be able to complete actions such as editing the name, email address, role, and more when selecting this option. We will note, however, that if the person has created a dotloop account, you will not be able to edit any of these fields.
- ADD TO TEAM - Adding a person to your team allows them to have complete access to your loop, including loop details, documents, people, and tasks. This is recommended for co-op agents working together in a loop. It is important to note that once a contact accepts the invitation to join the team, it cannot be undone.
- EMAIL - This option allows you to send an email to a contact by selecting to open a separate email application installed on your device. The contact's email address will be ready to go in the send line, all you need will need to do is compose a message, add a subject, and send.
Let's go into further detail for these options. To choose to EDIT a person, tap the white pencil icon in the top right corner.
You will be taken to a screen that will allow you to modify any information, including the name, email, and role.
It is from this screen that you may also choose the ADD TO TEAM option. Simply check the square next to "Add to my team" and tap the check mark in the upper right corner to save.
To send an email to a contact, navigate back to the PEOPLE screen and tap the contact you wish to email.
You will be taken to that person's information screen where you will see their role and email address listed beneath their name. Next, tap their email address.
Any email applications that you have installed on your mobile device will pop up at the bottom of your screen. Tap the icon of your preferred email app to move from dotloop to compose an email directly from your email mobile app.
Once you have left the dotloop app, you will see your contact's email address auto-filled in the "to" line. All you need to do now is compose a message, add a subject, and send! For more assistance using your selected email application, please consult that provider's support resources.
The contacts section of your account is your personal address book. The first time that someone is added to a loop, dotloop will automatically add them as a contact here. However, once a person is added to your contacts, you will need to navigate to this section to modify them. The contacts section is a powerful tool that can allow you to quickly connect with and contact a person. This section will also allow a contact to be quickly added to a loop once you being typing their name or email address in the "add person screen" in a loop.
To navigate to your contacts, tap on the menu icon from your loops screen.
Next, select People.
You will now see your list of contacts. Tapping the plus sign in the lower right corner will allow you add a new contact.
Tapping on a contact's name will present you with the person's information screen. Tapping on the contact's email will allow you to open a separate email application installed on your device. The person's email address will be ready to go in the send line, all you need will need to do is compose a message, add a subject, and send.
If you tap on the white pencil icon at the upper right of your screen, you will be able to modify this person's information. Let's add a phone number here to see the new options we will have with this person, making sure to tap the white check mark at the top to save.
After adding a phone number, you will be taken back to your contact's information screen. You will now see their phone number listed, as well as a blue chat bubble to the right. Tapping the blue chat bubble icon now allows you to CALL this person, if the number is a land line, or even TEXT MESSAGE the person if it is a cell number!
